First off I'd like to say that Super Robot Wars Z will be the single greatest game ever for it's awesome lineup of kickass shows. >_>

That out of the way, I'm more or less commenting on some of my recent influences in art, RPing and perhaps my tastes in anime.

Recently I stumbled across one of my very first fanfics which has somehow still remained on the Bob and George forums after being abandoned 4 years ago. Good god, the thing shows its age and how my style's evolved since (and my approach to fanfics in general) and yet...I couldn't help but go over the entire thing, seeing just what I did. Admittedly, it's still my best foreay into Mega Man X series fandom (or rather, the most amount of effort put into something of the X series, compared to Battle Network) and I now find myself jotting down important notes from it so that really soon, I'll be writing a second draft, in a sense rebooting the story with elements from the things I've done with the characters (namely the central character, Obelisk. I've evolved the character so much over the last four years in personality, weapons and other factors). In a sense, I'm going to remake the story, something that I really wouldn't have bothered to do beforehand.

I blame my recent influences of anime for this. While I've kept myself up to date on recent mecha in Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann, I find myself more interested in older style shows such as GaoGaiGar (and promptly got Jazz/Flareman/whatever the f**k he calls himself on here now hooked on the show), Mazinkaiser and the recent Getter Robos (Armageddon, Shin and I yearn to find DVDs of New Getter) and as such, I've found myself theming my recent works in art and literature under the motif of "modern old school."

It's kind of cool yet sad that I've taken a fan character in Obelisk, done so much with the guy that I can acutally take his base appearance and consider it something special in going back to his roots. I've already sketched out his "Reborn" base form and 2 of his three armour packs (going back to those as well) in preparation of the fanfic and I've already made changes to how it'll turn out. Oddly enough I'm more excited at doing this than anything else.
